Crusty the Snowman

I bought myself a crochet pattern-a-day calendar for sale at B&N! I decided to use the March 10 pattern of tiny dolls and came up with the genius idea of making the South Park characters for my sister. I already had plenty of bright orange yarn for Kenny's snowjacket. But no peachy-skin color. Michael's to the rescue! Plus I needed smaller needles. Alas I could not find any D, so E would do. The best skin color I could do was off-white (which is actually the same shade as the one I had for my cupcake, oops) so I went home and plopped down to try to make some heads.

Oh how horrible the first one came out. The second one was bigger though the same number of stitches except with chains to start each round. Blarg. This is not human, I cried! So I placed them on top of each other and went aha! And created the snowman you see above. I started the scarf off too wide but I used this lovely yarn named Blueberry Pie. I was listening to Twisted Sister's Twisted Christmas album when I finished :)

My hand hurts! I crochet really weirdly I think.

Cupcake mach 1

Blogger is being stupid with my images. Right click here and open in new window for the image. Anyhoo...

Here is my first attempt at a cupcake. I followed the instructions at this site.

This is the most flattering picture I could get of my creation. There is an obvious seam down the side of the cupcake "paper." The "icing" kinda runneth over on one side, but is stretched on another where you can see I was trying to match up the bottom and top pieces which did not correlate in circumference. Oops! Maybe I should pay more attention to those exact stitches and crap, instead of always improvising. I should attempt another cupcake, but in the meantime I gave this to my sister for a pincushion (she's trying to make a pair of pants for her toad).

Granny squares

I started off with my trusty Happy Hooker book, with the famed granny square. Ridiculous good fun. Note my tiny yarn stash.

Quite randomly, I was listening to a lot of grime while starting out.

Heart hearts!

Don't mind me, I'm just putting up my beginner's projects and test swatches for techniques I was learning at the time. Heart!

P.S. I think it's really funny how all three pictures show my bed comforter as background.

Check this out!!!

This is in a huge Michael's bag in my closet. I bought three more today. Clearly I need professional help. More projects to think of while I write.

Record Bag

I'll start off the pictures with my most recent project, a birthday gift for a DJ friend:

I crocheted this without a pattern, I just winged the entire thing, which is why it came out slightly wonky but I was very pleased with the result once you stick things inside. I made two flat circles, roughly the same shape (hey, I was a bit off!) and then just made one long thin strap, which I then connected to the circles, so it was not only the straps but the width of the bag (about 2, 3 inches). Later I realized there would be a gap at the top, so I improvised a flap that coordinated with the colors. After that I realized the flap was not secure, but luckily I had loop at the tip of the flap that could accomodate an orange button I found. Voila!

I am doing NaNoWriMo now, but I intend to do more knitting in December, especially finishing up old projects (pink bunny) and starting/creating new ones off books from the library! YAY! I'll be putting up old pictures too of past projects. Yarn is the best!!!

Crochet
You make me wanna go away
You make me wanna go away
You make me wanna go away
You make me wanna crochet
Just another book about women in rock
Just another book about women in rock
Just another book about women in rock
Just another book about women in rock
You make me want to
You make me want to
You make me want to
You make me want to crochet
You killed the thing
You killed the thing
They killed the thing
You killed the thing
You make me want to
You make me want to
You make me want to
Crochet?
